Today, at Cactus Music, I purchased a CD that I believe will be one of my favorites for a long time to come. I've listened to Bon Iver's for Emma, forever ago about four times today. I may listen to it again before the day is over.
Justin Vernon's sings most of the songs on the album in a rough falsetto, coupled with the an acoustic guitar, some spare percussion, giving much of the album a sad sweetness.
I love the lyrics as well, though I'm not sure what they mean:
I've been twisting the sun I needed to replace
the fountain in the front yard is rusted out
all my love was down in a frozen ground.

Give it a listen here. Standout track: Skinny Love.
