Bartlet is my President

For those of us who loved the West Wing, and would vote for Josiah Bartlet (if only he weren't fiction) in a heartbeat, here's a conversation conjured up by one of the best writers in television today.

Wednesday

R.I.P: David Foster Wallace

I first discovered David Foster Wallace in The Broom of the System, his first novel.  I loved the bright-shiny brilliance of the prose and the fantastical, if completely confusing, plot.  I've since read some of his short stories and non-fiction, and have tried to delve into the massive Infinite Jest a few times but haven't gotten far.  All of it reflected an obvious genius and unique intellect.

David Foster Wallace commited suicide on the September 12.  As this Slate article suggests, perhaps the best way to remember him is read one of his best essays,  Consider the Lobster.

On 9/11

Click here for a suprisingly moving reflection on September 11 from John Hodgeman (the PC guy from those Apple commercials).

By the way, if you'd like to hear John Hodgman read a great story, listen to this episode of This American Life.
